Whatever songs are your faves, just listen repeatedly and try finding the notes as you go until they sound right

Well easy song you can learn as a beginner, i'd reccomend- Nirvana- Smells Like Teen Spirit
Green Day-When I Come Around/ One for the razorbacks, Wake me up when september ends.
RHCP- Dani California (Fairly Easy Song with an mm Amateur Solo)

Basically the 6 lines on a tab means the 6 strings on a guitar, it's like a fretboard on paper- the numbers mean what fret to put down your finger on!
Internet is the best place to learn songs and find tabs.
On google search for eg- Smells like Teen Spirit tabs.
You'll get the hang of tabs after you try it a few times.It's quite easy!

I get most of my music from wholenote.com. they have alot of great intro riffs and a ton of lessons, which you can hear and see the tabs for. I would recommend reading INTROMANIA. Check it out.
by the way the numbers mean where you put your fingers on the fretboard. ie. if you see a 12 on the top line, that means to put your finger on the 12 fret(should be two dots) on the thinnest string(first).

You should get the Tabs or Chords for Godsmack's songs Mistakes, and Keep Away, both r pretty easy.

Smells like Teen spirit was actually really easy it was the first solo that I learned how to play.
