No, I don't believe it establishes a character. If your name was something really shitty that you really hated, then you might be insecure about it, but you would be insecure because of your personality type, not because the name made you an insecure person.

When you feel that that a meaning of your friends' names relate to their personalities, it might be very superficially. Or, the meaning of their names are so generic that you could apply it to a large number of people.

Anyways, I've been told my name should be Roxanne. I later asked people what they thought of when they heard the name "Roxanne," and they said hookers and pitbulls. Great. :X

I can see the meaning of some peoples names fitting them. my name is Sandra it means "care giver of man" been taking care of people my whole life and I still am.

Take the extreme....if your name was "Moron", you would definitley have character defects or effects because of it.
