I am 38 and have had many friends my whole life, but none that i am still friends with except the current ones. People move and say they will keep in touch but never do. People your friends with in school say they will K.I.T. but never do. Then i have had some i thought would always be around, but then we have a falling out and never speak again. Its kinda sad.

It is a little sad. BUT, you can still call people who haven't kept in touch with "friends". I have friends who I haven't spoken to in years, but they are still my friends (at least in my heart, or in my head). Maybe the chances are slim, but aren't we lucky that as life goes on we meet great new friends? I have. They say, "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other is gold".
P.S. It takes two to call a friendship off.

Life long friends are few and far between for most folks - but if you have a good one or two - then you need to make sure a falling out DOESN't end upo in never speaking again.
If you DO let it happen, then I guess the friendship was perhaps not as strong as one/both of you thought.
Either that or you lost addresses of each other before one of you had the sense to try and patch things up and move on.

The reality is that some things just don't last. I have two great friends that I've had for a very long time now, and we've had some problems in the past where it looked like it was all over, but we've pulled through. Life-long friends are a rare thing...

I think if you want to stay friends sometimes its you that has to go the extra mile and keep in touch. If you really want to keep lifelong friends that's what you have to do.
