Dude, relax! All anatomy is vast memorization. Think on the positive side, there are not any abstract and confusing concepts to learn, like you do in physics. So keep on memorizing and you'll be fine. I am studying this course at a college level and our professor claims that after we're done with the course, we will have approximately acquired a medical vocabulary of 35,000 terms!!!!!! And there are some basic concepts they teach, which I think are just common sense. However, this is at a college level, so I don't know about med school. I am a pre-med and a psychology major. I really want to get into med school. SO what is your advice on med school admissions? Is it true O-chem is a killer course in college? Please email me through yahoo answers communications. And also, what med school are you in?

I would think anatomy would be as hard as learning the words in a computer class, except not as boring. I think what might help you is to relate one item to another as the vessels to the heart and the muscle to that part of the body as they are usuallly named after that part of the body. So always think what relation they have to the parts around them and that way they won't be just blank words to memorize. Easy said, right, especially as there are so many of them and most things have more than one word for that part. You could try to remember the other names for that particular part. Good luck. Just hang in there and get through it. This time next year you will have it done and if you go into a speciality you will probably not use most of them. Can you imagine how many words there are in the Dorland's dictionary?

When I was in med school we had this amazing anatomy prof.... he had a 'saying' for EVERYTHING...e.g. ...the one for the cranial nerves...."On Old Olympus Towering Top, A Fat *** German Ate Some Hops"....the first letter of each word giving you the 1/2/3/4....etc. cranial nerves....Otic, Opthalmic....etc. etc. etc. I don't know if it was he who thought this stuff up...or somebody ELSE....but it worked....and to this DAY I remember them.
