Is this something you have always wanted? Could it possibly make you unhappier?

It would probably make some people very happy. I don't really want it because then how will i learn. I mean by getting good at something we need the knowledge and understanding in order to master the "ability". Then if i just get it easily what is the point? If we get ability's in life then what is the point of living?

If you gave me the ability, then it would be meaningless. If I achieved the ability through my own hard work and smart choices, then I would become happier due to the sense of accomplishment. I always want to be the very best at everything I do, but not through instant gratification.

Also, the attention that comes with being extraordinary could certainly make me unhappy (reporters can be annoying). Perhaps I will start to doubt which of my friends are true friends, and which ones only associate with me for my talent. And I'd feel a sense of obligation to use the talent to help the world, which would place a great burden on my shoulders.

Yes, that would make me happier. I can't say right away what I would choose, there are a lot of things to consider. Being the best at something would improve my happiness and I think I can keep it from making me unhappy as long as I remain self-aware and don't let it take over my life. I also have people in my life who would honestly tell me if my ego was getting too big, so I think it would be entirely positive.

If you had the ability to grant me the ability to be the very best at something then my goodness you are talented....
but to answer you question yes, i feel i would be much happier... but at what cost would this "best" come at? being the best at one thing can deteriorate your skills in another or even your morality when you attempt to do another activity that is hard seeing as you are the best at the other one which means you never "lose" or "fail" at it so your self esteem is completely based on "winning" and being the "best" so when pitted against the morality of not being the "best" at something that isnt what was granted then your life would become much more dreary, so you would stick to only that "best" activity... and life wouldnt be much happier...
so... all in all.... do not give me that gift... thanks

contentment, not things, not ability, ppl will always want more, more money, bigger house, bigger car, bigger bonuses, prettier wife, etc, etc if you're smarter today would you be happy tomorrow? if you have $100,000 today would you be happy tomorrow with your $100,000? probably not!
