Hi, I have owned a 1996 Jetta GL for a year or what-not. It has actually ran really good despite it's mileage and years.

The electronic sunroof has never worked, and I think there is a plug for a computer to be hooked on that does not work either.

Two of my family members are experienced in cars, but not so much in the electronics department.

Anyone have any tips on what I could do to fix this, (besides the obvious option, seeing another mechanic) I was thinking of buying the book of my car and trying to get my brother to attempt to fix it from here.

any tips appriciated

Nothing wrong with it except for the electronics? That's plenty right there. Sounds like you are new to German cars.....you have no idea how tedious and expensive your repairs will be. If you really want to play with it, go here. You can get a manual on CD as well as diag equip.
