Yep! Being truly tolerant, not what most people mean, which is just being "PC", means not just tolerating, but completely overlooking beliefs you can't agree with, in order to be friends with the people who hold those beliefs.
Doesn't mean you can't let them know your opinion about the beliefs, but you don't let that get in the way of your friendship.

That's a great question, and one that (in my experience) the people who talk about "tolerance" the most rarely have the self-understanding or logic to ask.
We should, because (if we apply a bit of self-examination), we realize that by being intolerant of people who are intolerant, we are being intolerant ourselves. After all, what is tolerance? Accepting that other people believe differently from what we believe, and they may be right or they may be wrong, but they believe differently.
From that point of view, I as a Christian am extremely tolerant of the views of others who believe differently from me. I think they're wrong, but I accept them as people and love them in spite of their wrong views. I have a friend who is a liberal reform Jew; I am a conservative Christian. We disagree about religion, but that doesn't mean we don't talk about it. I encourage him in his Jewish faith, even though I don't believe that he, if he died tomorrow, would go to heaven.
On the other hand, some people would say that makes me intolerant, and they are so intolerant that they cannot accept that I have different views from theirs. They therefore take every means legally available to quiet me and people like me.
That is extremely intolerant, and the irony is that they are doing it in the name of tolerance!

Yes, but admittedly that is hard to do. I find that I am intolerant of being tolerant of intolerance! ;)

We should tolerate everyone! All races, all cultures, all religions, tall people, short people, fat people, thin people, smart people, not so smart people. Our world is so wonderfully diverse. Wouldn't it be boring if it were not. So yes, we should tolerate the intolerant.

Yes, but that can be very easy, simply walk away. Never let them see you sweat.
