I have four platy fry in a breader net by themselves and it seems that I almost always have one or two of my adult platies biting at the net... Why do they do this? Most of the time the babies are hiding in the plants inside so I doubt that the adults can see them and are really trying to get at them... is there a chance they are just curious about the net or perhaps that I need to clean the net? I babies are about a week old and the net has been in there for as long as they have been alive... the curious biting at the net seems to have increased though over the last few days... Any guesses as to the reason for this behavior??

First of all, there is no reason to separate platy fry from adult platies. Platies are the only livebearers that do not eat their young. If you have only platies in the tank, the fry will be perfectly safe with the adults.
The adult fish obviously don't like the net.

Platys and most other live bearers are grazers, they will pick at anything in the tank. I feed slices of blanched zuchini to my livebearers and they thrive on the additional plant matter in the diet.
