I am reading this poem I wrote in assembly tomorow.(I am 13) here it is:
Howling, crying in the night
their voices pierce the air
and echo around.
One right after another,
needing to fill the otherwise empty sky
until they must once again
hide while the rest of the world
is awake.

what do you think and what should I call it?
Thanks!

When picking a title to a poem, ask yourself a couple of questions:

1) Do I want the title to help explain what the poem is about? - there is a difference between giving your poem a title like "Fluffy Bunnies of Doom" vs. "Dreamchase" as the title can often lead the audience's expectations

2) Will the audience need help in directing their minds to picture the imagery a certain way? - like the previous question you would ask yourself, the title will help the audience know if they need to laugh, reflect, worry, etc. For example, using the "Fluffy Bunnies of Doom" title prepares the audience for satire or humor while "Dreamchase" could mean just about anything but prepares the audience for night-time imagery and possible unreality

3) Is there a personal inspiration for writing the poem that you wish to share with the audience? Some poets would use the particular moment that inspired them to name a poem or there might have been a particular person, word or phrase that made the poem come to life. You can also use an epigraph to help show your inspiration.

With poetry the audience will use their own experiences to relate to your words. The title can be used to help focus the audience or relay the special relationship you have with your work.

By the way, I enjoyed your poem. You used line breaks very well to pull the reader from one line to the next. I especially liked how you used "One right after another" right after using "echo"... the whole sound and sense thing.

Enjoy your reading.
