I enjoyed Shelley's "Frankenstein". I also like the spin offs and stories which proceed from this fascinating concept. I would really like to see Steven King take a shot at this plot idea. He would surely give it a new and interesting twist.

I love it. I teach the book in Literature and so do the students. What is the difference between man and monster is the theme. The monster had more compassion and selflessness than the man had. Everyone in the story gets to go through emotional pain which is what causes human spiritual growth. The intended wife too often doesn't get discussed, but she, too, went through much pain.

I've read it 4 times. Twice for English Lit courses in college. It is one of my favorite books. It lends itself to analysis from so many different angles, but is also just a great read. I'm glad it's recommended reading.

One of my favorites!!!! I especially enjoyed the part where the Monster hides out in the woods. I love the chapter that begins "Cursed, cursed creator! Why did I live? Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence which you had so wantonly bestowed?..." That's the beginning of Chapter VIII.

Yes, it was a very good story. You really feel sympathy for the "monster". Many of the modern movies & stories don't give you that view point.
