Unfortunately mud is one of the hardest things to get out of carpet,,I suggest oxy clean. On the stove plates use a brand called bar keepers friend. If it doesn't all come off buy new ones at your local hardware store that are made of nonstick material or aluminum...They are much easier to keep clean.
I own my own cleaning business so I know these brands will work..

SOS Pads work great on ovens/stovetops. Also Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work great on about anything. If you want to keep your carpet mud free, take your shoes off at the door. If you do get stains from mud on the carpet use a bristle cleaning brush and hot water mixed with a cleaning agent, I've used Pinesol w/ dawn dishsoap. Use a towel to soak up the access water after scrubbing. There is also a cleaner in a spray can with dual action oxy clean, I got a coffee stain out with. After cleaning you may smell the cleanser, rub the area with a dryer sheet.
