In a recent study Dutch men and women just took over the U.S. as the tallest average for both genders. Men average 6 foot 2, and women average 5 foot 9. As for shortest I dont know for sure but I know that there are some tribes in south america, africa, and central asia that have very short people. It is pretty much a direct correlation with overall nutrition so developed countries like those in western europe, the U.S., and canda have pretty tall people. Whereas most developing countries are generally not quite as tall. But it isnt always the case because groups like the Massai tribe of Eastern Africa are well known for having very tall people.

I believe Northern European countries have the tallest average heights for both men and women. Germany, and especially the Scandinavian countries are known for producing tall people. Shortest, I'm not sure. Probably some of the Asian countries.

Actually the dutch women are the tallest according to the UN. the shortest are from India and the amazon river basin

Come to Holland and you will see how tall people can be here, also women. No joke. I study here with international students and to my observation, Asian girls are short, also south American.
