I want to get a gecko and I was looking at the Sunglow and the Tangerine Tornado Geckos cuz they look cool. I wanted to which gecko(doesn't have to be one I named above), where I should get them, what items I should look into purchasing, and what I have to do to take care of w/e gecko u r recommending. Is there such thing as a gecko that ONLY eats veggies and stuff, and absolutly no meat...even crickets and worms? If there is, please tell me what it's called.

Cresteds are the only one I can think of. Theres a special product called Crested Gecko Diet (CGD) made by Alan Repashay(sp?), a top Crested breeder. CGD is a complete diet and no live feeder protein is neccesary, I believe the calcium and vitamin supplements are mixed in as well.

Theres plenty of online breeders around to buy them from. They like a lot of vertical space since they are mostly arboreal (climbers).

You can do a fake tank and have climbing surfaces and a couple hides in there. Cresteds are nocturnal so you want a nice dark area for them during the day. It's reccomended you get a UVB light that's on for 12 hours a day, this is solely to help the gecko's maintain a sense of day/night.

Cresteds need temps ideally around 70f-75f (room temp almost) and if they are prolonged to 85f for to long they will stress out and die. A heat light or under tank heater isnt neccesary as long as your room temp's are in that range.

Theres mixed theories about keeping more then one together, males will probably fight, and they WILL fight if there is a female around. It's rumored you can keep males together that are raised together and not exposed to a female. Females can live together and be fine. You can also keep 1 male and 2 females, but if you do this expect egg's, cresteds breed very easily.

Good luck!

Crested geckos are the cutest gecko, and can live on a special Crested Gecko Diet, as well as sugar-free fruit babyfood and fruit. Some people give them crickets also, but they can live without it. I am totally in love with my crested geckos, who also get used to you and let you hold them for short periods.

definately a crested gecko. they eat crickets but when they get older you can substitute that for t-rex crested gecko diet and babyfood like bananas, pears, peaches, etc. when there babies feed them more crickets. you will need a reptarium, or terrarium. if your getting a baby, get a small tank, so they can eat their crickets. if your getting an adult get a larger one, they need more height than length. put some leaves and a branch for them to climb on. there cool, they have sticky toe pads and unlike a lot of other geckos they can be handled about 20 min. everyone other day, after youve tamed them. them wake at night, sleep during day. they jump a little, but its pretty cool. youll need a heat lamp, uv light (recommended but not necessary), food, tank, thermometer, etc.

All of the Geckos that I have had have been carnivorous, bugs to small mice. The only vegetarian lizard that I can think of right off is an Iguana.
