Yes, it does happen and it is great. I was ridding on a cable car in New Orleans, Louisiana and I started singing Reason to Believe by Rod Stewart...Everyone joined in and we sang to whole song. We were all strangers, but for a brief moment we were like family..;Thanks for making me think about that night.....Don't be afraid to try it yourself.

Back when I was in high school our marching band went to Medieval Times during a trip to Disney World and in the huge waiting area with a couple thousand people, about a dozen of our guys started singing Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part Two" also known as the "Hey!" song, as played and sung by many bands. And when I say sing, I mean literally sang the licks "dunh dunh duuuhhh duh DUH.... du DUUUUH....." They did it in a stadium cheer format... with call and response heys and yells. They were pretty much just bored. This was in the lobby and lots of other guests joined in. Everyone thought we were either really cool or pretty much just crazy. It was fun and cool and YES it happens.

Yes, One time I was grocery shopping and everybody starting singing Tenth ave freezeout,it was playing in the store. It was really fun and has never happened before or since and that was about 4 years ago.
