I don't know. However, I have heard from a reliable source that Vista is slower than XP and 'spy ware-friendly' I think I will stick with what I have until Vista makes some vast improvements.

Since VISTA is a new Windows-based system from Microsoft, it is not an upgrade, but a totally new and different program. Therefore, you cannot download it as an upgrade without paying for it. There may be discounts available for upgrading to VISTA from various sources; check around. Usually, it is about half of the retail cost of the software alone; but that depends on the product and the sellers.
Of course, if you buy a new computer, usually the latest version of Windows is included as a bundled package. There are different costs associated with VISTA if you are looking for the Professional version, as opposed to the Home version.

Maybe a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Program such as Limewire or Bearshare. (Proceed with Caution!)
But I should tell you, now is NOT a good time to get Vista. I would rather get a Mac right now.

You don't. At least, not with an internet connection. Microsoft routinely checks to make sure that your copy of windows is authentic, and if it isn't then they make it really really tough for you to get anything done.

You don't. It's is not legal....
except maybe... some universities give their computer students Microsoft products for free so they can be encouraged to develop for MS.
