What I do is pretty basic compared to true "mathmatical thinkers" but I use math daily. I work in construction, doing design work and some structural analysis. You have to have a healthy working knowledge of geometry and a little trig, even with the software we have now days. Using geometry and an engineering program that we have, we are able to design trusses that span up to 50 feet and more to support roof and floor loads. Similair principles work in many forms of engineering and construction, without it we wouldn't have the ability to build stuctures like long span bridges, mult-story buildings, and many other structures that we usually take for granted.
