From time to time I get this nagging feeling that something unpleasant is about to happen. I usually decide what I think is going to happen, but am never right. Something unpleasant does happen, but it's always something out of left field! Any suggestions on how I can tap into this feeling and get a more accurate idea of what's about to happen? As they say, fore warned is fore armed!

Answerer number two, I must say I take offense! Carry on like what? I didn't say that I was looking for a way to prevent anything. What I said is that I'd like to be able to hone in on what's coming so that I am more prepared. And my general anxiety levels are just fine. Don't need to be told to just relax!

Well, I think I may have it worked out...this time at least. I woke up yesterday with the nagging feeling noticibly absent! So I thought hmmmm...nothings happened..maybe it was just stress. Then my son who lives 10 hours away called to tell me that his next door neighbour had been found murdered! He then told me for the first time that he'd been having that same nagging feeling. OMG!!!!!

Next time, try to predict what you think will happen and then think of the total opposite. Keep both in mind and expect either to come your way. I never tried it but you can give it a try and see if it works (I can't do it b/c i don't have that special feeling like you do.)
=D good luck

That prickly, hair raising, being watched feeling but can't pin point the source. I have gotten the premonitions from time to time and yes, something unpleasant has happened on most of the occasions. Sometimes (I think of it as some kind of warning but the message is incomplete) it is more urgent than others but there is never a clue as to what will happen or when the event will occur. I have no idea on how to tap the "gift or curse" to get full use from it, it just happens.

I sometimes get the feeling that something not so good is going to happen. Usually it is on a Friday the 13th. I just go about my day as if nothing bad will happen. If something bad happens to me then it will be unfortunate however I will know that the good times will come as well. The highest highs will take care of the lowest lows.
As far as being able to understand what will happen exactly to you and what will happen, I think that you should look at the surroundings and determine what could happen. Then you will get a better idea of what to do.
Good luck.

I have news, you soooo are not alone! I once warned my father about an accident involving his work vehicle. I pitched such a fit that he finally stayed home (for my sake). The man who went in for him was killed, at the intersection I had named, and at the time I said! I don't know why but we saw it on tv right after it happened. We didn't even watch tv that much!
I think it has to do with the connection you have to the event or the person. There were two other times that happened in regard to my father, every time it was on the money.
In a way, I hope you figure it out, someone may be helped.

Another name for what you are experiencing is called 'the feeling of impending doom'.
You've taken note of the feeling and it sounds like things never turn out to be as bad as you feel they might. Take note of that. Next time you go through this, decide to spend a specific amount of time (i.e. 5 minutes) thinking about what the worst possible outcome could be. Think of positive ways you'll handle the situation if it comes to pass. Remember, it will pass eventually. Most likely whatever it is that causes concern won't be as bad as you think it will be.
After you've spent time being concerned, decide to change your feelings and thoughts to more pleasant things. Think about what makes you happy. Recall pleasant events from your past. Think about similar situations to the one you're concerned about, and how you got through those situations.
You can do this.
Also, you don't have to go through anything by yourself. Tell someone you trust how you feel and just listen. Often people will say enough for us to latch onto a better, more pleasing idea that will get us out of the patterns of thinking we are temporarily stuck in.
Good Luck,
Earf!

Well, I've had a few strange premontions, but I STILL couldn't stop them from happening. Vivid ones, too, that came true.
So, I would say that all other-worldly thoghts aside,
you are going to develop a terrible generalized anxiety if you carry on like this.
If you need a little boost from a book or a pro, cool beans.
If you can just take a baseline- like ad iray,
of every good and bad thing that has happened-
and when you get that nagging feeling, you might start to see how random it all is,
and just relax again.

There are many people who have these and other similar gifts or powers.
The thing to think about is whether you can handle it.
Should you have this gift, and you really learn how to analyse what you feel, will it change your life negatively ?
If people knew what the future holds, is it not a great burden to carry ?
The majority just take care to the best of their abilities, those who have these gifts should be sure to handle them with care .
To learn to develop them, one has to learn from the wise who have similar gifts or powers, so as to use them responsibly.
