They put ice in their cups because ice is cold, and most people enjoy a cold beverage. Ice keeps drinks cold.

To cool their drink faster. Not everyone likes a room temp drink or a drink that is just cool. Ice also helps a cold drink stay cool.

In America, we like to use ice to keep drinks cold. I know in other countries they don't like ice.

But what about Tea?
People take hot tea then put it over ice to make it cold. They put lemon in it to make it sour and then put sugar in it to make it sweet. They say here's to you but then drink it themselves!

Some male football and hockey players do this to keep cool during the game. I don't know if it really works cuz I'm a girl.
