Call your medicaid office, and ask them to send you a list of participating doctors and dentists.

You could also try calling your local emergency room - they may know of some doctors who accept medicaid.

I agree with you. For adults. Now for kids like everyone and their mother takes Medicaid. I mean you can referred to any specialist and they take it.

Adults on the other hand is like finding a needle in a haystack. I got really lucky though, my doctor is one of those doctor's offices that accepts Medicaid and they are affiliated with a local University. I think also that some doctors take Medicaid, but only so many people since they don't get paid as much as with regular insurance, so when you call if they are not accepting anymore they just say NO, we don't accept you. And most of the time I have found that the places that say they don't take Medicaid are ruder then the ones that do accept it. Like we are some form of low life cause we get medical insurance through the state.

Ohio has a great system. They have a book they send you and it lists all the doctors and dentists that accept Medicaid. Your insurance card looks just like a regular insurance card (cause it is though a regular insurance place, partially) so you don't even look like you are getting Medicaid. I live in Wyoming right now and they have adults paying a $2 co- pay and $1 to $3 on prescriptions, which is way better that having to pay for health care or going to a clinic where you have to wait for like 3 hours to even see anyone and they all think you are just trying to get pain pills.

Try calling job and family services. They should be able to provide you a list of doctors who accept Medicaid. Then try calling those doctors.

A lot of offices only accept so many, because they don't get fully paid by the state.

I work in the ER, and we have tons of people who have Medicaid who use the ER like a doctor's office. Maybe some of it's because they can't find a doc who accepts a medical card, and maybe some of it's because they're too lazy to go to their doc. I see so many people coming in for non emergencies (minor colds, hang nails, they threw up 2 days ago), and they don't realize how they're abusing the system. Medicaid only pays for about a third of what the bill is in actuality.

It is very hard to find doctors and especially dentists. Call your local DHHR for participating providers. Or even call the number on the back of your Medicaid card. Government assisted healthcare sucks!!!!

Your medicaid office should provide you with a list of doctors. Dentists are much harder to find, but doctors should be relatively easy.

good luck!
