The ultimate is the last and final item in a series. The related words PENULTIMATE and antepenultimate refer to the SECOND-TO-LAST and the third-to-last item in a series, respectively.

Hence, the bank is asking you for the Second-to-last character in your electronic Password.

So if your password was "cheese", they would want the letter S.

It's the letter or number before the last character on your password.

If your password was 123456789, the penultimate character would be 8. If using letters, ABCDEFG, F being penultimate.

Hope this helps.

Ultimate is the last in a series (A).
PENULTIMATE is the second to the last in a series (B).
Antepenultimate is before the next to the last in a series (C).

Whatever your password is, pick the second last letter or number, sorry, without more info, that's my best.
