Though I like rap music, I do appreciate the harm it can do. There are some very impressionable people out there, and a lot of people will aspire to be just like the people they idolise. When youngsters idolise rappers, who are talking about ho's, drugs and guns, they don't realise that most of the time this is just the music. They think this is how the rappers really live their lives, and so attempt to emulate.

Well, they sometimes rap about drugs, sex, violence, crude language, anything promoting their songs. Young people are listening to their songs, which isnt exactly a good thing to do, since its been proven that the young adult population is known for imitating celebrities.
Not to say it's only rap songs doing harm, because video games are just as bad. Rap isn't as harmful as many people think, though many people are against it because of the way they bring about their lyrics and image.

Rap music is like any other form of entertainment it can be good or bad. However, it can be harmful because many performers (not all) have explicit lyrics that promote hatred toward whites, the killing of cops, deragatory statements about women, and basically promoting a thug lifestyle. This is especially true of gangsta rap.

Hi! I think rap can be harmful in a way because it promotes false notions that leads others (esp. the young kids that are attracted to these songs) to think that being a gansta is cool. It also promotes materialism and superficiality-- that in order to be well accepted one must have a lot of bling. When it comes to women, it objectify women thus degrading them.

It really depends on what rap music you're listening to.
Its certainly not all the same.

I will say, medically, that people tend to turn the base
up WAY to loud - so, there may be hearing loss for those
unwary.

SOME not ALL can be "harmful" ...some are actually decent and actually tries to send a message out but lately all those rappers just rap about are sex, drugs, money, and how to treat people (esp. women) badly... I guess that's pretty harmful.. because some people are stupid enough to do what they hear...

well, lets see - it can be harmful to your car when your bass rumbles so loud that the body panels loosen with each rattle until they fall off. It can be harmful to your ears when your bass rumbles so loud that your eardrums burst. It can be harmful to your sex life when you walk around acting like a gangsta and make a fool of yourself. Those are just some things. --- oh, and it can cause you to pick up some very bad grammar habits.

Because it promotes things like drugs, violence, and treating women like they are ranked beneath men, which they're not.
Rap makes these things seem cool, which makes many teens want to do these things, and most end up doing them. It's not good, and part of the reason that so many teens are in jail right now.
