Most of our country probably isn't that immature, just the talking heads.
I think Shakespeare nailed it in "Romeo and Juliet" when he wrote, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose / By any other name would smell as sweet." (2.2.43-44)

I noticed that someone called "patriot" made a negative comment about Obama because of his middle name.
Discrimination against any American citizen for any reason is un-American. "patriot" either lives in a country in which discrimination against people for arbitrary reasons is allowed, such as Red China, or is not living up to his name.
However, I believe that immaturity is not the issue here. Many Americans who call themselves partiots also engage in un-American acts of discrimination against African-Americans and members of other ethnic minorities. It has become especially chic for these people to discriminate against their fellow citizens who are Islamic and/or have Islamic names. Such discrimination is forbidden by the First Amendment, which grants ALL Americans the right of freedom of religious belief.
It is amazing how many of these un-American people think of themselves as "patriots".
For these reasons, I think that Barak Obama will not be elected - not because so many people are immature, but because so many people are un-American.
Bear in mind too, that he has written a book suggesting a non-partisan approach to politics and ideals. This is something the discriminators do not want, for it will erode their power base and threaten their partisan ideology of intolerance.

Well, this is really just a tactic of the right wing destruction machine. They hope it will take - they will keep trying to make it take. But, except for a handful of yahoo posters, americans have wised up to the right wing spin machine. If Obama makes a good case for himself and doesn't try to be heard over a rally full of screaming supporters, it won't matter what his name is. (Unless it's vilsac.)

No. It's because he hasn't even finished serving his first term as a US Senator. His FIRST term!!! How disrespectful can a man be to his own constituents? It takes tax money to get his state's Governor to declare a new election or appoint a successor. Tax money better spent on helping the People. I'm rather disappointed in Barrack, in all honesty. He gave me a hope, at first, but showed me he's just another politician.

No. Our country is so racist that we wont elect a black man. They are just using his name to cover up that fact.

because people judge by names.
Barack Hussein Obama rhymes with Iraq Hussein Osama.
Or he's got Bomb in the middle of his last name.
But don't judge him by that.
plus some people can't even pronounce it right.

I don't think a lot of people hold his name against him, its not his fault his parents had a lack of judgment at his birth. I think most people don't trust him due to his Muslim heritage or that they don't know anything about him.

Those bringing up his name are juveniles, either chronologically or emotionally. I hope we are too smart to elect such an empty suit.
