It means that you are a free thinker. You are someone who doesn't do what everyone else does. It is not necessarily a bad thing, it just shows that you are your own person. You don't follow the pack. Do you want to be like everyone else?

an eccentric person is a little bit mad, usually quite outgoing, and has funny little querky behaviours. Generally likeable too. It is not usually used in a derogatory sense, just an expression of an individuals personality
