I am a single 31 year old mom with 5 kiddos. I need a safe place to go. Last time someone suggested Columbus Ohio and it sounded great but then to learn that there are tornadoes there! I need a safe place to relocate. Anyone please??? Nowhere where it is too hot either please.

No, sorry. The worst weather in San Antonio is probably severe rain storms(sometimes). No tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. here! Thats the only plus about here to me!!

Uh actually Columbus Ohio doesn't get tornados very often. I live and work here. You get a little twister maybe every other year.

I am 34 and I can only remember one occurence of a tornado that amounted to anything.

Cost of living is fair and unemployment is at like 5%or so.

Plenty of jobs, beautiful state, lots of things to do. your kids would love it.

It is a big city so if you want a really safe and quiet town twith little crime try Chillicothe or Waverly Ohio

Northern California is lovely and almost 0 humidity. Summers usually average around 85-90 degrees, but you might get a week or so of 100+ weather. Winters usually are between 30-50 degrees and rainy, but this year we've had very little rain. Someone mentioned earthquakes. Yes, they happen occassionally, but major ones infrequently. You're more apt to die in a hurricane, snowstorm, or tornado somewhere else. On the downside, it's expensive here. A one-bedroom apartment rents for anywhere from $700 to almost $2000 a month, depending on sq. footage. The average home sells for between $400-500,000. The highways are overcrowded and gas is way overpriced, but I can't think of another place I'd rather live. I figure I pay a little extra for the luxury of living where the weather is decent.

Naperville, IL (southwest of Chicago) is one of the top rated suburbs in the US. It is expensive, though--but great schools and a safe area. And it's only hot in the summer!

Just one question--what's wrong with Ohio? Tornadoes? Aren't there tornadoes in Texas? Anywhere in the US will have something...if its not tornadoes, it's hurricanes, earthquakes or blizzards. It's a fact of life.

If you like small towns you'd like it here in Cashiers, NC. A little cold in winter but very little snow. It also has a hard time getting over 85 in the summer. There is a good charter school here for your kids and if so inclined a great homeschool community which we are involved in. This place is safe and yet only an hour and a half from Asheville. need anymore info e~mail me......
