Just be calm, know that they both still love you and relish two birthday and xmas gifts from now on!
Remember what ever you think it is not your fault, sometimes people just grow apart and that cant be helped.

My parents got divorced about six years ago, and of course when you first find out it is really upsetting and shocking. Your parents have been together since before you were born, and you are used to having them both living in your house. It is a hard transition to make, and each parent will probably say something bad about the other, but you will eventually get through it. After a while, it seems normal and you can't imagine them ever being together again. In fact, you think it's better that they got divorced because when you think about it, would you rather have them separate or fight 24/7? I'd rather be in a more peaceful house than that. If you spend a lot of time with each parent individually after the divorce, nothing will change. They are just living apart but still love you just the same.

Aw sweetie, I'm sorry you are going through that. Your family is still there, it's just a bit fractured. Make the most of your time with both parents, and set some guidelines. Make sure they know you don't want to hear 'negative' things about the other parent. Chances are they will try not to drag you into it, but if they do, be firm. This will help the stress. Connect with your 'good' friends. Don't let yourself be dragged into acting out, such as drugs, etc. Find people who will give you support by being good friends. Connect with your siblings (if you have any), and be a support system for them, and vice versa.
It's going to be hard, but know it's going to be okay. It will be much better than constant fighting, as both parents will eventually be happy.

- Focus on yourself, you didn't do anything to cause this.
- Remember, both your parents love for you will be unchanged.
- There is nothing you can do to change their minds, so don't waste your time.
- Find time for yourself; do things that though might not make you as happy as they use to right now, the actions will engage your mind and give it a break from thinking about your parents.
- Don't take sides, let them know you love them both but it's their problem to work out and you're not a sounding board. That job is for their friends.
- Don't do drink or do drugs, they'll only make the situation MUCH worse. Also, don't engage in risky behavior, ie..having sex, don't do it.
- Talk to your friends, be open. If you feel unsupported, don't take it out on them since they might not be able to relate (how could they, they're not you).
- if you feel unsupported, tell your parents you would like to speak to a professional. If they say no or give some excuse as to why you shouldn't or can't, contact your counsler at school.
Most of all, relax. Life happens, it's not the end of the world. What you don't understand now, in time, you will. What you do understand now, y ou might see in a different light later on in life.
God bless, peace and good luck.

Dear just remember its not your fault. Your parents are getting a divorce for a reason and a reason that you probably don't really know about. Although it really sucks and yes its hard. Just love them both the same because they will always be there for you. Also you may want to speak to a counselor or even sit down and talk with your parents and they can try to help you deal with this a little better. They have the answers that you seek and as lost as i may be I've been there but I was young and its worse then trust me. However, talk to your parents let them know how you feel and maybe they can help you feel better about this.

Divorce is a hard thing for kids. You love both your parents and now you have to be separated. I assume you will be with your mother. See your father as much as you can. You can phone him whenever you want. Hopefully your parents are not dragging you into their battle. Dont feel any of this is your fault because it isnt. This is strictly two people who have fallen out of love for each other. They will always love you. Things will be different for awhile while you adjust to new things, but it will get better. Hopefully your parents will take your feelings into consideration and try to make you feel comfortable. Spend time with friends. Good luck. God Bless

Yes when a family gets divorced everyone get scared. I don't know your age, but it will depend on costody who you will live with and will you have to move. Try to keep calum, talk to friends, talk to the couselor at school, talk to your parents about who you will be living with and will you stay in the same school. its so difficult, everything changes day by day and you just have to keep saying a prayer or giving yourself hope that things will work out ok. Its normal to feel scared, but everything will work out for the best, take care Heather

First, you have to realize that these are problems that occur between couples, and it has nothing to do with you. Second, I would remember that you love both parents and that you want them to be happy. And as much as you want to be all together, sometimes that isn't healthy for whatever reasons they have and you'll understand more their reasons as you learn more about their issues. And you will, because these issues tend to revisit the kids. Your parents probably love you and your very existence probably makes this extremely difficult, but if you love them, you will try to conserve that love regardless of what happens. I hope you can do that, and that things can work out without any intentional hurting on your parents' part. Good luck!!!

try not to take sides and let them know how you feel
ask them to stay human to each other after they get divorced.
so all of you can talk.
it can work.
i was one of the lucky ones, had a good divorce.
neither one hated the other and we always worked together as far as the kids were concerned.
my parents got divorced when we were just early teens
they were always fighting.
so to us it was better they did get divorced.
never talked to each other since except in court where they had to.
this was wrong for both of them because they had kids.
sad part is the kids usually get hurt the most.
didn't bother me much, but it did my brother and sisters.
at 12 i was pretty much on my own anyway.

wow, i know you are scared. thats understandable. im not sure how old you are but i will try to help you understand that your parents are individual people. but, they are parents. your parents. for whatever reason, they have decided divorce is the answer to their happiness and yours. try not to look at it as your family is falling apart. try to look at it as your life is changing. not for the bad, just changing. like your body will change as you get older sometimes parents just grow apart and change in different directions and dont have anything in common anymore or dont have the same goals as they used to or maybe they just fell out of love. the thing is, you will still have two parents that will continue to love you just like before, the good thing is, with all this stress off of them, they can actually be better parents. your mother can actually focus on you instead of all thats going wrong with her marriage. you dad can actually focus on you for the same reasons. so try not to be too sad. i know life as youve known it is changing and you have the right to mourn that but dont get too caught up in the drama and remember, mom and dad are people too, not just parents. and they deserve happiness just like everyone else. and as long as they are there for you and continue to support you with your activities and school and talks, then only one thing would have changed. they are not together and thats it. does this help you at all? i hope it did. dont be afraid to talk to your parents and tell them why you are afraid. what frightens you most. ok? their answers will calm your nerves and you will see, things arent always as bad as they seem. so, calm down, dont worry so much and keep open communication with both parents.
