I think I got this one. See way back when these presidents were growing up in the United States there was a provisional law that minors under the age of 21 had to have their picture taken as a "profile" for their drivers licencesm, which were the pictures used for all coins in the country. Now when we started printing paper money the presidents were old enough to get their licences renewed so they went ahead and took the front facing picture for all the bills. I always thought it was amazing how they were able to get the "under 21 until **-**-****" off the picture way back then.

Because profile is far more dignified (and easier to cast in metal)

If they were full frontal they would look distorted. A profile gives the face the illusion of depth and therefore makes it recognizable. It would be impossible to put features on a flat face.

Because a profile view was easier to stamp and identify using the older technology of the 1800s (and before) and that practice just became traditional.
