I know no one who considers southern accents/dialects endearing, nor Ebonics. However both have a right to exist, and they symbolize two of many different cultural subgroups in America. Yiddish is just a language that people occasionally borrow from i.e. Oy vey! I'm late!
Ebonics however epitomizes what alot of people consider lack of education and sophistication in the black community.

First off, ebonics is not a dialect. Yiddish is a true language dating back hundreds of years. Southern Americans speak english. It is the accent which some consider endearing, although I don't. I personally hate ebonics because it is for a lack of a better phrase "dumbed down" language. It is worse than slang. Plenty of slang is used in every day language. Slang dictionaries have been written. Slang has made its way into Webster's Dictionary. One can learn a variety of things while listening to hip-hop music, but in a number of cases, the english language is not one of them. It pains me to say it because I love hip-hop music. Kids spell words like outcast and fabulous wrong on spelling tests(Outkast, Fabolous) because of watching videos and buying cd's. Actually, I don't blame these guys. It is a deeper problem than that. Ebonics cannot be referred to as broken english because ebonics uses actual english words the wrong way. For example, foe is an enemy not a number. Doe is a deer or a slang term for money not something you open or close on a house or car. Basically those who use ebonics don't like the letter "r" in their words.

Its simple because ebonics is not a language. It is english except with a lot of grammar mistakes and bad pronounications. The other languages are standard and have grammar rules and things like that. Ebonics is just speaking without regard of grammar rules and usually shows that someone is uneducated.

Ebonics is not a dialect. Ebonics is street slang and bull**** English full of errors and double negatives.
No one with any class likes having to translate from English to "ghetto thugged out high school drop out posted on the corner."

Rolls eyes. maximum white people do no longer even communicate suited english. a number of their tones which persons get at a loss for words w/ pronunciation are in basic terms distinctive which in basic terms reflects the place they arrive from. So whilst a black individual has that comparable tone, people say, " oh he's so articulate" or "oh he speaks so nicely". supply me a harm!! I stay in the South and all people (black and white) down right here appears like they have a banjo taking part in in the history. think of the track to the beverly hillbillies and that they sound in basic terms like. some white people use slang (dude, candy, bro, remarkable and so on.) yet there is not any call for it. Black people use slang and its ebonics. LOL

I think Valley Girl is even more Hated, atleast by me. Ebonics is hated because its become synonymous in our culture with drugs, gangs, and violence. Also many people think its pure lazyness and ignorance. However im sure speaking ebonics has no effect on reading and writing skills. Ohh wait, it does.
