Highest are those requiring specialist conditions like snakes or lizards and horses and anything that needs daily grooming from a horse to a long-haired rabbit! Lowest is a tank of cold water fish but not a gold fish unless in large tank or pond! They need a pinch of food 5 days a week and a water change and clean up of home and filter every month and the rest of the time will survive with or without your company!

Horses or pedigree dogs are high maintenance. I imagine an Afghan Hound would need constant brushing. Beautiful dogs, but a lot of work.

My pets are all the insects that live in my house. I just leave them to sort themselves out. I no longer clean the kitchen, they crawl all over the dropped scraps and eventually remove them. Besides, if I did clean they would starve. So I'd say insects and spiders that are allowed to run free are the least maintenance.

Horses are the highest because their require to be groomed regularly, vet trips regularly, to be seen by the ferrier regularily and have their hooves trimmed and filed- they require big areas to live, blankets for the cold, and a specific feeding routine consisting of grain and hay. etc...

Goldfish are the lowest because they are not as sensitive to their enviornmental changes as other fish are. --And mostly just require a tank that allows them to swim and some 2.00$ fish flakes, maybe a few added plastic plants to make your fish feel more at home.... Their cage needs cleaning every 2-3 weeks if you do not have a filter, which is nothing compared to how many times a horse's stall needs to be cleaned!

Not sure but horses are a lot of work, cats are probably the least maintenance as you only need to feed water and brush them!

I would have to say Lizards, snakes, salt water sealife, and horses are pretty high maintenance.

Sea Monkeys are really low- the same with a I-Dog or a worm.

Over bred dogs
Chinese sharpei's have skin diseases

Labs get allergies

Pits and bully breeds have insurance liabilities.

Just do your homework and pick the breed that is best suited for your lifestyle.
