When I play a player that I believe to not be as good as I am, I will often try to get to the net. I find it easier to hit a decent approach shot, and then close with a good volley, than to stay back and hit winners.

It's very difficult to create your own pace off of slow balls and hit winners. Look how Federer just lost to Canas. He kept trying to outhit Canas and he ended up losing the match. I sometimes play against people who don't go for winners, but just try to keep the ball in play. Darren Cahill mentioned a good tip during this year's Australian Open about concentrating on putting good direction on the ball-- I tried focusing on placement more than power during my next match with a soft-baller opponent and I had a lot of success. I played with a lot more patience. Also, I have started approaching the net on all short court balls, and most medium court-service line- balls. This thoughtful aggression has helped me win many matches against players who hit nothing but slow balls.

My advice. Never ever put players in catagories of good player & bad player. If u do that u will be setting ur mind to do its best against the good player(so to win) & not doing enough against the bad(that's why u lose).
U must put ur mind that all players are good & u must beat them & win.
See, tennis is a mind sport, as well as physical.

Most good players develop a style of play that plays to their strengths and stick to it. That is what you have to do, and try not to lose focus just because someone is ranked lower then you.

Play hard. I had this problem too! But once someone steps onto the court and knows that they are PLAYING and not just out there for fun, just whip the ball.
