When i put DVD movies in my DVD rom, it tries to read, the led keep blinking few times. After 3 to 4 min., it stops and fail to recognise the DVD and DVD rom drive icon get venished from the "my computer" page. Waht could be the possible reason and solution for this?

"AirRay12…" gives a good suggestion ... try a DVD from the video store.
Also, look in Windows explorer & see if it can at least read the data on the DVD you are trying to play.
The problem may be that you need the proper codec for it to play.
Are you using Media Player or another program to play the DVD ?

you might try to update the driver for dvd --- goto my computer -- right click and got properties right click again and goto hardware -- then to device manager then to dvd -- then left click the plus sign to open then right click on the dvd and update driver

have you tried different dvds? try original dvd ones.
