i have a 1996 eclipse and for some reason everytime i reverse it shakes..we opened the hood and the engine jumps when im trying to reverse...a friend said it could be one of the mounts loose or just worn out...what do you think is going on?

Yes. right side motor mount. wore out

One of your rubber engine mounts has worn. When you reverse the engine, the reverse torque moves the engine the other way and the engine jumps off the loose end side where the mount has worn off.

Take it to a mechanic to have the rubber mounting replaced.

Sounds like a broke motor mount.
