Yes, it is really not worth playing pc game with high-end graphic card. You might spend 3 - 4 times more just the get the same framerate and graphic as console games.
The best is:
Play console games instead of PC games.
Use PC for its other function such as programming, documentation, scheduling, internet ,,,etc

The games/programs for xbox, ps3,wii are written differently then pc games. Usually more simple graphics, uses less memory, and doesn't use windows then the pc counterparts. Today's consoles do have alot of power using the ibm powerpc cpu with 4 cores. Alot of power.
But a properly configured computer (good cpu, 2gb ram, and very good video card) usually can out play the xbox, etc games with more details, more content, and more control as the keyboard can be used for many functions.
But really, In the end you really cannot compare the pc with the game consoles, as the pc is build for multple fuctions including games, the consoles just for games. There will be differences in the games between the two, really not fair comparing them.

it doesnt matter how great of a graphics card you have, if your other hardware isnt up date, your graphics arent going to look as great.
computer graphics cards do have a lot more power then what comes in a console

very extreme end: center i7 965 nvidia gtx 295 approx:Rs. 70,000 for both extreme end: center 2 quad q9550 processor or center i7 920 Nvidia GTX 260/275 approx:Rs.30,000 for both funds: center 2 duo 8500 nvidia 9800gtx+ approx:Rs.22, 000 for both.
