Getting my bachelor's degree

There are many things I am proud of in my life, but the most valuable would have to be my relationship with my wife. Everything else pales by comparison.

We've been together a total of 39 years; 36 of them married.

We started with basically nothing; she worked in a nursing home and I was finishing college. We lived in a little two room shack on a cement slab that was previously a shoe repair shop. But we had love and desire.

Throughout our life, we've owned and sold 5 homes, and each time we moved, we followed our own rainbow and marched to our own drummer.

None of the moves were motivated by the lust for money, although we did manage to do pretty well in that department.

We got to the point of having 15 acres of north woods, where we farmed an acre and provided ourselves with a full years full of food.

We learned much about horticulture and developed green thumbs.

We tilled together, cut wood together, split and stacked it together, fished and canoed together, and navigated three 90 mile river trips.

We ventured into the Canadian wilderness together.

And now, basically retired, we are living with our son, helping to raise our 10 yr. old grandson, in an area rich with natural beauty and resources.

Life is good.

I believe becoming a mother is the single greatest achievement of my life, but I have overcome many life altering obstacles that I thought would crush me. (Mom says it's because I'm too stubborn to admit defeat!)
