Yes to all of the above.

Although my boss is much better educated than I am (2 doctoral degrees vs. my half-completed college education) he truly values my insight, respects my opinions and validates my intelligence. He listens to what I've got to say and often will change his course of action based on my suggestions.

As for pay, I'm paid extremely well for what I do (not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but for my job) and I have a lot of "perks". For example, my boss will often give me Friday afternoon off (especially on those really warm, sunny days) WITH pay (and I'm not salaried). Also, despite the fact that I'm actually considered part-time with no real right to paid time off (vacation, sick days, etc.) I have never taken a day off and not been compensated for it.

My boss absolutely lets me know that I'm a necessary part of our operation. He tells me all the time how valuable I am and, by backing those words up with some of the job "perks" that I mentioned above and other random acts of kindness (like gift certificates for my husband and I to go out to dinner, etc.), he leaves no doubt in my mind that I'm a valuable member of our team.

I love my job and my boss is definitely the greatest which, in turn, inspires me to work even harder and be even more productive for my employer. It's definitely a two-way street.

Yes, but then again I have been there a long time. It was not always so. I had some pretty crummy bosses over the years but after a big downturn in business about 15 years ago and a lot of downsizing, those of us who were left were pretty much the most essential personnel.

I think they do treat the employee's fair. in fact they work along side of us when needed. Its a good job when the boss is not scared to do the job they are asking you to do

Okay well I dont really feel like my superiors particularly listen when I bring a problem to them and it has caused problems to grow in the past. I think that everyone would say they could use some more money. My experience has shown that if I am needed that much they intend to work me very hard.

If they don't then look for a better job.

I started my own business because I didn't like how I was treated working for others. Now I have no one to blame.
