Assuming that it is time for a new political party in the United States?

What issues should that political party endorse? What should the platform look like?

I would be willing to bet that anyone who is wanting a third political party cannot identify 3 core positions of the 2 parties that we already have.

Furthermore, I suspect that some unworkable wish is going to form the first plank of the new party - something like "no taxes" or "no immigrants" .

There is too much at stake concerning how this government pays for itself, what it does for it's people, and the nature of it's face to the outside world - all of which would be defined differently by the two parties we have. I could not ever wish for a third party to muddle things.
