I would say Spike from Cowboy Bebop, but the whole thing at the end makes me want to go with Tenchi Masaki from Tenchi Muyo/Universe. Why, I see a lot of myself in him. Plus Ryoko the space Pirate :)

Any female anime character that strays away from the "Moe" stereotype (you know, isn't helpless, vulnerable, weaker, and preferably someone who kicks ***). Unfortunately, I don't know many female anime characters like that...
I guess maybe Chihiro from Spirited Away. She seemed to have lots of fun in the Spirit World, and she isn't weepy or helpless. She's actually pretty resourceful and courageous...

I would be haruhi from ouran. I wanted to be yuki from vampire knight but someone beat me to it. Its cool. I love haruhi either way. She is smart and knows how to handle Tamaki.
