Aren't you too young to be using Yahoo! Answers?

I play a 12-string acoustic guitar and there's nothing else like it.

Acoustic is a good way to start. You dont need an electric guitar to learn how to play. Cuz then you would need an amp. All you need to learn is a Acoustic guitar, picks, a tunner....and some motivation. A great way to start. If you get better as time goes by...you could move on to an electric guitar and get an amp and play the stuff you like. So dont worry if you start off with an acoustic...sometimes its better this way!

I am 13, and I started playing the guitar when I was 10, too. I think you should start with the electric because that way, if you are still not so great at playing the guitar, and you mess up while playing a song, it won't sound too bad because you have the electric sound backing you up. Where as when you play the acoustic, you can hear each and every sound.

I hope this helps!

(Oh yeah, for a beginer, I suggest a guitar less than $150)

I think that it's very good to learn an instrument at an early age. I wish you the best of luck in this. I have two sons who are 7 and 9 that I am getting started on the guitar. They are learning on the acoustic now but I do have an electric one that they can practice with also. Sometimes hearing protection can be a good thing at this point in time. Hearing protection for me that is. Good Luck.

you don't need to start with acoustic to learn, it just depends on what kind of music you want to play. acoustic and electric both have their ways of letting you put your emotions out there. look on amazon.com for some cheap starter packs. i use to have an electric, but i just recently went to walmart and bought an alright acoustic guitar for 70 bucks.

no video games. What's the point of that? Buy him the Hal Leonard Guitar Method: Book 1. It's a great book and it taught me. Later after he gets better, you can buy books 2 and 3 for him.

hi angel

no, you don't need to start with any particular type of guitar, it's just easier on everyone's ears to start with acoustic.

some feel electric is a little easier to learn.

check you local library for books and videos

guitar is fun. go for it.

It's best to start with classical....then move onto other styles. My son started playing classical guitar at 7. (He's turning 10 in a few weeks)

Good luck!

(Really, it's just important that you do something that you're passionate about, but if you're looking to learn the best technique, start with classical)
