it would help if you said what kind of birth control. But the problem might not be cleared up by birth control alone. You may want to try your friends face wash too. Acne is different for everyone. I hardly ever had a breakout in my teens, and now in my thirties, I have more breakouts. All the myths about acne are just that. Acne is not caused by chocolate, unless you smear it on your face and let it clog your pores. Do hormones contribute to acne, sure, because your body is still changing because of the hormones. Find out what your skin type is and use the facial washes recommended for that type of skin. And same goes for make-up.
Be glad that you are seeing some improvement, as sometimes that is all you will see without the correct facial treatments for your skin type. A good product is Deep Pore Cleanser, as it helps remove dirt and oils from your pores, which causes acne

I have had problems with my acne since I was about 12 years old, and I am now 20, still with acne problems. I have been on quite a few of brands of birth control pills and Cyclessa worked the best for my skin. Looking back at pictures from when I was on it, I noticed how much clearer my skin was then. I did some research on ance while on Cyclessa and it didn't get very good ratings, but it seemed to help me a lot.
I don't know what level of hormones your doctor has you on, but I know this pill has a lower amount than most. (I'm sure you can google it and find out more information.) I had to stop using it because even that was too much hormones and it made me depressed, so make sure you don't get on anything too strong for your body.
I was just recently put on YAZ to help with my PCOS and it has cleared up my skin some in only the 2 weeks I've been on it.
Discuss this with your doctor, and they might be able to research and see which pill can help you personally with your acne problem.
Good luck, I know how you feel about your acne problem. I'm in the same boat. :)

Everybody is different. Birthcontrol can clear up acne, but I wouldn't use it as the end all and be all for clearing up acne. I would go to a dermatologist to check up on the problems of acne. There are many other things out there that will do a better job of getting rid of acne and keep it gone. Modern medicine is wonderful, and there is no need to have acne in these days. you don't want to have scars for the rest of your life, so head to the dermatologist and get the correct diagnosis and medicine.

My gynae gav me 3 boxes of birth control pills as he gathered tat the outbreak of my face is due to my hormone changes as i had perfectly complexion until i turn 29. THe pill was great, no more new acne but the healing takes quite awhile. U shouldn't change brand frequently as results sometime ain't shown so soon. however, the side effect of taking contraceptive pills as in me is that i had terrible moods swings n i flared up totally out of control. THat stops me from taking the pills. Im taking primrose evening oil now. GIve it a try as my acnes doesn't pop out, only during my period. GOod luck...

Birth control pills DO NOT always clear up acne. I've been on 2 different kinds and neither of them did.

Not all birth control pills clear up acne. You may need to switch to the brand that does.
Ask your Gyn.
