I went to Toronto for one week for a vacation. (I'm from Maine, US.) and as my family and I were asking for directions, the guy asked us if we were American, we said yes and he started cursing at us and telling us to leave the country!

We left two days earlier because a lot of people seemed to notice our American accents and treated us horribly. I know that I would have never treated anyone, much less a Canadian person that way if they came to America.

I just don't understand. My family and I were very polite and just wanted to see Canada. :(

A thought to "Jamie", how can you say "we" make fun of you're country when you can't possibly be speaking for every individual that lives in a America.

Next election, vote for a Democrat.

We're not very popular anywhere in the world these days, although I am very surprised you were treated badly in Canada. The Canadians I know are aware not all of us voted for that moron, and almost none of us approved of his oil war. My assumption is you went to Quebec, since you live in Maine (I'm from New Hampshire), and the French aren't always the friendliest folks anyway. I hope you aren't too angry at them. We've been put into this position by a pack of liars. Unfortunately, it's going to get worse before it gets better.

*EDIT* Jamie, I never made fun of a Canadian in my life. I know a lot of Canadians, and I think Canadians are our best friends. Don't generalize about Americans. Just because the rich assh*les ruining this country have made the rest of the world hate us doesn't mean all of us necessarily deserve it.

Because a lot Canadians don't like Americans. Just like people who are French usually don't like Americans. It's a common thing. They think we're fat and stupid, which a lot of people are and because this country is represented by an idiot, the reputation of the people isn't held too high. People from other countries also usually don't like tourists.

Because we don't like americans here. You make fun of us, and you are ignorant of our culture and flaunt your money around like it means something to us. Sorry, but the rest of your country ruined it for you.
