Before the mid 1965's hispanics and spaniards(who are caucasions) were given white status. There was no Hispanic or latino race. This is why you see people like the cuban in I love Lucy perform in TV during a time of great discrimination. The fact is that until recently, the white hispanics have been stripped of their white category. I believe it was because of the great immagration that started coming in. For example, during the time of great immigration from Germany, Italy, ect.. they were not considered white. Can it be possibe for white hispanics to be giver white status and remove the term hispanic, which is not a race.
PS: Back then, if you were not mostly European, then you were either black, asian, or other.
