i own a repair shop ,and on this one isn't to bad to replace,it mounts down on the lower part of the steering column ,and isn't that hard to get to,just don't let the rod that goes on to it come off from the top area, you can prevent this by being really careful with it,but it shouldn't take too long to get that repaired, good luck i hope this helps.

Get a Haynes Repair Manual at the local Auto Zone or auto parts store in your area. It will troubleshoot and show you how to fix your vehicle. Also on the Auto Zone site has a section for vehicle maintenance

Normally, you pull the switch and the headlights come on. The you pull a little further and the highs come on.

Still did not quite understand the question. Do the regular headlights work?

As far as replacing the dimmer switch, it is real easy.
Your lucky day. Found the guide for replacing it.

it does sound like your dimmer switch is bad, your steering wheel probably has an airbag in it , and you would have to remove that in order to remove the steering wheel to get to the switch, it's not so bad as long as you have the right tools for the job, and that you know what you are doing. good luck.

When I got my Ford Ranger I had that problem too and I took it to a mechanic and he said to push the lever forward and I did and it worked. Push the lever forward.

I think you should try pushing it forward to get it to stay on bright, pulling it back only does it if you hold it back........try it.

That's how it works on my Sable.
