I'm sorry, I just have to laugh about "Get a devours"...someone needs a dictionary. (Divorce, not devours).
But, yes, I would have to agree that talking to a doctor would be a good route; sleep apnea has nothing to do with weight. And his snoring may have nothing to do with sleep apnea. It may be adenoids. He may have post nasal drip and be all congested when he sleeps (allergies?).
See a doctor.

My husband snores like that, too, so I understand how you feel (tired!!). Try nudging him and getting him to roll over - that works sometimes.... the best thing I've found so far is earplugs!! Seriously, I went to Wal-Mart and got earplugs designed for hunters (the blaze-orange foamy ones designed to block the gunshot noise). They were a little too long, but I cut off about 1/8" and they're perfect. Sure, I have a hard time hearing the alarm clock (I ended up turning up the volume on it), and I wouldn't recommend it if you have a baby you have to hear, but they work great, I can't hear the snoring, and we both get to sleep in the bed!!

Bring him to the ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist) for evaluation. Snoring can actually be dangerous if he also has apnea (stops breathing) which can occur in people that are average weight, too!
A sleep study will probably be recommended. There are different possible causes with different medical treatments and procedures that can help. The only way to know for sure is to get an accurate diagnosis.

My husband snores, but only when he is laying on his back. So I just push him gently over onto his side. Other than that, wake him up every time he starts to snore, and maybe he might go and seek some kind of medical help for it.

more than likely it is sleep apnea. i am very thin and i had it. mine was also very bad and i had surgery for it. it helped a little but i also ended up needing a cpap machine to breath well at night. have him checked out. breathing disorders can cause a plethera of health problems. also if he's snoring, he's not getting an adequate amount of oxegen to his brain.

My son suffered from sleep apnea when he was only 6. He was and still is skinny as a rail. He had a "puffer" & innibulizer til he grew out of it. So take him to the ENT specialist. I found it neccessary to videotape my son in his sleep. He always seemed to stop breathing around midnight. We could hear him gasping for air when his body realized he had stopped breathing. But snoring that badly is a symptom of apena as well as pulps. GL

I went through the same thing.
I went to Rite-Aid and bought earplugs.
Ironically enough, i was able to hear the alarm clock but it deafened his snoring enough that i fell asleep just fine.
There are sprays too that he can try. Any drug store will have aids in snoring and other options.
Good luck to u hun and I wish u a good nights sleep. I know where ur comin from girl. It isnt good, but u cant just smother him. lol

Sleep apnea is not only caused by being overweight. That is just ONE of the causes. You might have him see his doctor...it could be his sinuses...if he drinks that could be the problem as well. You can try breathe right strips or the spray for snorers. Also people who get overly tired tend to snore a well...
