The hiking is incredible and free...except for the fee to buy a National Forest permit. Pink Jeep Tours are expensive...even the short tours. Forget that. Shopping is also muy expensivo. There are campgrounds in Oak Creek. Also Slide Rock State Park is lots of fun when the weather is hot. All accomodations in Sedona are expensive...I doubt you could get even a cheap hotel room for less than $80/night. Dining is not necessarily expensive, there are lots of options. If you have a car, just driving around to the sites is easy and free. If you have four-wheel drive you don't need the schtinkin' Pink Jeeps.

If you do need a cheap motel, stay in Flagstaff to the north, or Camp Verde or Cottonwood to the south. All are within 25-30 miles. Reserve your rooms early.

HI. Highlight is taking the Pink Jeep tour. Take the few hour tour if economy minded or the entire day if you can afford it. This is amazing and exciting. Google "Pink Jeep, Sedona". Bring a good camera with a polarizing filter so sky will look as great in photo as in reality. Visit the vortex (free) overlooking airport to photograph Sedona at sunset. Least expensive nice motel to stay, I found, was owned by one of the local Indian tribes, Included Jacuzzi for two in bedroom. Not too far from town is Slide Rock Park. Just beautiful. I've got poster size photos I took with 35 mm camera that everyone says is amazing, but the camera just recorded the actual beauty of the area. Bring walking shoes and have a great time. Oh Yes. See the church in the rocks...beautiful even if you're an atheist.

Try a stay at the Sugar Loaf Lodge in West Sedona. Only $60/night and you get pastries, coffee or juice and yogurt included each AM in the office. Nicely maintained pool and larger hot tub. Hiking is "free", but if you have a car you'll have to pay $5 a day for permit. Eat at Mc Donald's or Burger King? The Red Rocks Jeep tour is tops, but it's Not cheap! Lots of decent restaurants that are moderately priced in nearby Village Of Oak Creek (4 miles South).

Type in "102 things to do in Sedona" in your search bar and it will take you to the Sedona Chamber of Commerce site. You'd be surprised what all there is to do there.
