You can wear whatever you want to wear, as long as you do it well. I'm really a firm believer in that your hair color and eye color are not the determinants of what colors you can wear and which ones you cannot. It is more about what you're comfortable and confidant in, because those attributes will show!
Greens always go well with brown-green eyes, especially olive ones. You can also try warmer, golden colors to accentuate the brown in your eyes. When in doubt or experimenting with a new color, go soft rather than bold. Browns and neutrals are universal colors that are awesome on anyone, so those are great fall-back alternatives, too.
But don't feel like your hair or eye color locks you into a certain color family!

The makeup counters at department stores and the cosmetics aisle in Walgreens can be pretty overwhelming. Its super hard to know what colors to try and what goes together. The goal in eyeshadow is to enhance or bring attention to your eyes. The rule is to wear the opposite color eye shadow of your eyes on the color wheel so your eyes can truly stand out (or POP as they say in the make-up world).
You have greenish-hazel eyes, I'd go with MAC's Sable eye shadow. It is an amazing muted, golden plum brown everyday color with bronze shimmer. First apply a light pink color to the base of your lids - try Trish McEvoy's Deluxe Eye Shadow in Shell, then add a touch of the sable to the crease.
Lastly, line your eyes with Mac's Sketch Colored Eye Shadow. It's the mac daddy (no pun intended) of purples. The color is an intense burgundy-plum flecked with red shimmer.
Another great idea which I've just discovered that is really simple and great for travel because it's packaged together is glowmineral's gloEye shadow trio in Amethyst.
Be careful when using purples, because if you go overboard, your eyes will look bloodshot. So dust some loose powder on the corners of your eye, and directly beneath your lower lash when you are finished applying your shadow.
GREEN or HAZEL EYES
1. Tried and True: brown, apricot, purple, plum, deep khaki or forest green (because they are in the same greenish family, they brighten green eyes)
2. Funky Favorites: gold, glowing, lime-green, really light green, bright purple (super modern)
As for something neutral and is great for any eye color. I recommend.
1. Tried and True (Classic): navy or charcoal base to define and a powder-blue shadow for highlighting (it brightens your brow bone so any eye color pops)
2. Funky Favorites: silver-sparkle shadow makes all eyes look edgy.

Pink or purple is absolutely amazing on green eyes! Blue is supposed to be good for brown, so whichever is closer, you decide.
