I'm leaning towards....Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is in my opinion the BEST Vampire book written, but Atwater-Rhodes wrote a good one called Shattered Mirror that I quite like. Or Eragon is you haven't read it , which many have. Um...Cirque Du Freak is a riveting series, but in the manga side of things, Ouran High School Host Club is hilarious in my opinion. Catherine Called Birdy by Karen Cushman, Witch Child by Ceclia Rees, and The Guardian of Time Trilogy by Marianne Curley. :] Hope this helps.
Email me if you like or need more titles.

I like The Giver, too and didn't realize there were two others after it - Gathering Blue and messenger. This is Lois Lowry.
Uglies, by Scott Westerfeld is a science fiction trilogy set in one possible future. When you turn 16 you go from being an ugly to a Pretty courtesy of an operation that changes your physical appearance (as well as some other things). This is one girl's adventure, from running away, to turning herself in so she can try a cure to finally becoming a fine tuned machine (3rd in series - Specials). I'm not in 7th grade, but I did really enjoy it.
For fantasy, have you read any Piers Anthony and his Xanth series? Full of colorful characters and awful puns. His science fiction Adept trilogy is good, too - one man trying to live in parallel worlds where his role in each is very different.
If you want dragons, I recommend Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. A group crashes on the planet, loses everything and has to start over. Dragons are native, and they "impress" with a human, becoming a team. They fight "thread" which falls from the sky and devours whatever organic material it touches. I like her Crystal Singer trilogy, too - which is more science fiction.

I was looking for a question like this and am happy I found yours! I just read a great book that fits your level reading, Its called Code Orange. It was about a kid that finds these old small pox scabs and is afraid he got the diease. Then he emails a few scientists to see if thats possiable and terriorists find out about him. They kidnap him, and I wont tell you anymore. I really suggest getting it. Its one of those books with a bunch of genre. Mystery, romance, adventure, and thriller are all included in it, plus it has to do with middle school students. I like any book about something relating to me. I really believe you will like it, so try it! You cant go wrong with a book! Good luck with your search

Try the Bartimaues Trilogy. The first book is The Amulet of Samarkand. It's a fiction series but it rocks.

My suggestion is a book by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, called "In The Forests of The Night.
It is a vampire book of sorts, but no sex or perversion.
