No. Venezuela is providing heating oil at greatly reduced rates for some of our poorest neighborhoods in the US. Hugo Chavez's attitude is that of providing for his people, considering he has taken ownership and profits from oil revenues to the tune of 60% in order to provide for social programs for the people of Venezuela. He also took control of development planning and rights. I cannot say a man who is bettering his people at the cost of some overly lucrative profit margins of BIG oil companies is a bad thing. I wish one of our Presidents would do the same thing for us.

I'm of two minds. We need the oil - Venezuela is one of our biggest suppliers (5th largest if I'm not mistaken). At the same time, I believe that Chavez can rant and rave all he wants - sticks and stones. In fact, it is in a way better if he keeps it up, because he looks more like an idiot every time he opens his mouth. I do feel sorry for the Venezuelan people, though, because he is scaring foreign investment away from his country, and at the rate he's giving oil away and the lack of refineries, they might be facing a shortage in the medium-term, which will be to the detriment of some of Chavez's more worthy social programs.

Hugo Chavez is no threat to the USA. He doesn't like Bush, and his policies, but he's no threat.
We need the oil, or our price will hit 5 bucks a gallon.

I think we should buy oil from anyone that's offering the lowest price for the best quality. What they do with their money should be none of our concern we are supposedly a free market economy.

I think the US should rescind its embargo on Cuba, and place a full embargo on Venezuela, as well as freeze all of its assets. Cut them off at the knee-caps for their less than civilized demeanor, and insulting of a global institution (the UN).

Well, since we HAVE to depend on imported oil and we can't get along with the Arabs it kind of narrows things down, doesn't it?

Chavez isn't anti-U.S., he's anti-Bush. So is 75% of the US. So, NO.
