Try running your antivirus program in Safe Mode. You might have caught a virus that self-loads at startup. To do this:

Turn your PC on or Restart. As soon as you see the black and white screen, press and hold the F8 key. Continue holding until you see a black and white menu. Safe Mode is F3 or F5.

Click Start, Programs, run your AV program, install, uninstall, whatever.

When it is finished, Restart.

You will probably find your icons messed up. No biggee. Drag them back into place.

If you have problems after this, your only recourse may be to format your hard drive and reinstall everything.

If you can't remove it, then you should quarantine it.

I would recommend Microsoft's Windows Defender (Free Program) for this. Once you quarantine a virus, the anti-virus program captures it and sends information about the virus to Microsoft.

You can download Windows Defender here:

How do you know there is a virus on your pc?

There are programs out there that(part of their sales pitch is to say you have a virus and by only purchasing "their program" can that virus be eliminated.

Now, you can check your computer with other antivirus programS and they will not see this "virus" so....does it exist?
It does not. Best to find a different program than that one. It is just scamming for your money.

Try spybot (with the figrer print logo) and use it often. Try Safe Mode and uninstal whatever looks like it should not be there. If nothing else works then save your pix and docs and reformat the disc and reinstal the operating system from the cd. (dont do this if you do not have the original cd's that came with your computer)

Have you tried virus software like Mc Affee, norton or avast ?.,this should take care of the problem.
And if you just want to skip the hassel of getting rid of the virus, then I would suggest you change your hard drive and do a fresh recovery from your recovery cd disk, but before you do this ,you will have to set your bios to boot on cd rom drive.if you don't know how then email me at eongsitco@yahoo.com and I'll tell you.

Mostly antivirus software are able to remove those viruses. If not, it'll able to quarantine the virus.
One way (risk), if you know the virus file location, you can reboot your pc and goto dos mode to delete the virus file. Mostly virus not active in dos.

try getting anti virus i assume youve tried that. at the worst case scenario reformat your harddrive. go to my computer right click on the infected drive and hit format. this will erase all data on the drive. another option is if you have a restore to last point. windows has it on xp and vista.
