1) Atticus is a kind and loving father, giving his children comfort when they need it, but is also capable of teaching them harsh lessons. (Ex.-He lets them come with him to tell Helen Robinson of Tom's death.)

2)Atticus instills his strong sense of morality and justice. He tries to teach Jem and Scout that the important thing is to appreciate the good qualities and understand the bad by treating others kindly and try to see life from their perspective. By teaching this, Atticus shows them they can have a conscience without losing hope.

3)Because of his wisdom, intelligence, and ideal behavior, everyone including the poor, respect Atticus. He is the moral backbone of the town. Even though this is true, Jem and Scout do not idolize him in the beginning. He embarrasses them because they think he's old and doesn't do what other fathers do. But by the end, Jem is devoted to Atticus while Scout, who is still a little girl, loves him without question.

Morals are seen more powerfully through the relationship between Atticus and his children, as he devotes himself to instill a conscience in them.

Are you kidding me
The first thing is that he is a wonderful portrait of what equality should look like.
He taught his daughter to read when no one thought it was necessary
He defended an African American man against charges that, in the time of the story, might never have made it to court.
He taught his children responsibility and morality. He held their hands has they walk from innocence to maturity. Teaching them to look at situations from all angles. He showed the children the benefits of the little inane things they do. Like reading to Ms.Du Bose helped break an addiction.
He teaches strength and bravery. If there was a flaw with Atticus it was that he was blinded by his law books. He was what he was all the time from the lessons he taught to the full suit that he wore everyday. You even see growth and change in him through tout the book. When he covered up the murder that Boo commited you saw his tenacity to protect.
It has been a long time since I read the book but you really haven't read it at all have you?

I think, first of all, he is a model father for his two inquisitive, young children (a girl and a boy) and they are somewhere before teenage therefore he needs to be tactful, caring and considerate to take care of them as good members of the family and the community. Two, he does not apply any extreme measures or harsh words reprimanding them, rather he is reasonable, friendly and good-humored regarding his ways of informing them what they should do and why. Three, he is brave, composed and poised to action whenever he knows his children is in danger or away somewhere. In brief, he is an exemplary father and from the contexts we can understand his words and actions as a hero in the novel, it definitely refers both Scout and Jem are proud for their father and they themselves will grow up as mature woman and man like their father. Thanks for your query, I hope this helps.
