Political candidates should not be allowed to use popular actors in their advertising campaigns. Candidates too often win elections because they have actors for friends rather than because they are honestly qualified to represent the public interest.

money, its all about the money. Political candidates can be so rich and corrupt, they dont need to even be friends with actors to ask them to be in their ad campaigns, even if they're worst enemies. My state governor is a multi-muliionnaire and everyone hates him.

A write in candidate would not be counted in most states if not all, unless they had properly registered. Even then, the popular vote doesn't count. You are really voting for a slate of electors who are pledged to a particular candidate and in some states they are not allowed to cast a vote for anyone else. therefore, the Electoral College votes for and actually picks the president. They could do so even if a write in had 90% of the popular vote although that would present some interesting issues and legal challenges.

Actors are people and free to speak out on the candidates if they choose to. What kind of freedom would we have if people were prevented from speaking out? Candidates win elections because they promise business favors in exchange for campaign contributions and then they use the money to swift-boat their opponents on TV commercials. Not because of actors.

If any candidate has an actor pushing hard for his or her election it completely turns me off of them and they lose my vote.
