There's a difference between a pedophile and a child predator... one wants to have a relationship with the child and will generally wait until they're "of age" to become sexual with them, whereas child predators want to harm the children.
Some have suggested chemical castration. This is a slippery slope, though, because what age would the victim have to be for the offender to be locked up for life? What if your child were only a few months older? ...and so on and so forth.
Serial killers are different from a simple murderer... most who kill have a specific reason and only "need" to kill that one person, but a serial killer cannot be rehabilitated... they'll just take a break from killing until they get much older.
It's a horrible thing, but the ACLU would be filing lawsuit after lawsuit because this interferes with a person's rights.

I have been following this case in the news ,I have three sons one who will just be turning seven tomorrow ,He thinks he is to old to be kidnapped ,It breaks my heart to think of what that child went through in the days he was missing ,I think that is enough proof along with all the other cases to prove that they re offend and they need to be locked up for life

First of all, not everyone involved was a predator.
Second of all, we don't know who actually killed the boy.
Locking them up won't do any good because it will cost taxpayers more and more money to build prisons to house them and take care of them. Obviously, something is wrong with a predator's brain that makes them want to focus on children...society doesn't want to look into that. They rather than put em somewhere and not worry about them.

I do feel that they should be locked up for good after their first offense. I'm not sure that the laws concerning distance from schools and notifying the neighborhood are good enough.

I live in St Marys which is very close to Brunswick. This is so tragic and our thoughts and prayers are with this family as they have to go through this awful ordeal. I just hope that the prosecuters do their job and put this family away for what they have done to this innocent boy and his family!!!!

you're right, it is a horrible tragedy. and yes, these monsters should be locked up for the rest of their lives. I just can't understand why someone would want to hurt a child that way. it honestly makes me sick to my stomach.

Prisons have had to become mental hospitals and treatment centers. As you can see they are not good at it.
The Republicans turned the mentally ill loose on America this is what happens.
